Research collaboration between Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia and AIS New Zealand
Associate Professor Dr Geetha Subramaniam arrived at AIS in late September. Geetha has a strong connection with AIS, so much so that she has chosen to spend a six-month sabbatical here to work on a research project “Feasibility Study on Islamic Banking in New Zealand”.
Geetha attained her PhD in Development Studies (Economics) from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand in 2011. Her main area of research interest is Labour Economics, specializing in Women in the Labour market. Her research interests also include research on Development Economics, Gen Y issues, Gerontology, Banking and Teaching and Learning. She teaches Human Resource Economics and Economic Analysis for postgraduate and undergraduate students. She has published more than 70 articles and presented in many local and international conferences. She has won many best paper awards and innovation award at national and international level.
Besides holding many positions at the Faculty of Business & Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, she currently holds the position of head of the Research and Publication Unit at her faculty.
