Living and studying in New Zealand – students’ blog

This week’s blog provides snapshots of living and studying in New Zealand from Tommy (Viet Nam) and Marina (Russia).

Marina worked as the Director of Travelexpert in Saratov, Russia and Tommy worked as CEO for Media Plus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam before coming to New Zealand to live and upgrade their careers to an international level.

New Zealand – a destination for adventure

Marina Bragina is from Russia and is currently enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) at Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS) in New Zealand. As Marina has been working as the Director for Travelexpert in Saratov, Russia, she has tremendous knowledge about travelling and living overseas. She chose New Zealand as the destination for her study and family life.

Marina, her husband and her children all have a passion for sports and new adventures. Because the PGDBA programme is mainly taught at the weekend, Marina can spend week days taking care of the children and studying by herself. When she has free time and her children are on school breaks, they go on trips together. The most recent trip they went together was to Mount Ruapehu, New Zealand to enjoy the skiing and a family road trip.

New Zealand is absolutely a place for adventure or thrill seekers. My family have a passion for surfing and is one of the main reasons we chose to come and enjoy our lives here.

New Zealand – a place for a balanced life

Before coming to New Zealand, Tommy was the CEO for Media Plus in Vietnam. He chose New Zealand because of the lifestyle and the captivating nature.

Many people say that New Zealand is more laid-back and close to the nature. You never live too far from a bush walk or a beach. As a result, you can have a great study/life balance at the same time.

Tommy Nguyen is currently enjoying family life in Hamilton, New Zealand’s fourth largest city. He is enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration Programme at AIS. The flexibility of the programme helps students like Tommy have a sense of both studying and living balance.

When Tommy is not in class or doing research, you’ll find him building on a playground for his children or driving to nearby cities to explore stunning New Zealand. “Life is just great with family by my side“, Tommy said.
